We are excited to announce the latest release of Fabrica! We are thrilled to announce that this release includes 13 new improvements that have been heavily influenced by user feedback and user behavior.
At DataCite, we believe in a user-driven design approach and are committed to creating the best possible experience for our users. We want to express our gratitude to all users who have taken the time to share their thoughts and ideas with us. Your input is invaluable and has played a crucial role in developing these changes.
In addition to user feedback, our product design team also analyzed Fabrica analytics data to identify areas where we can improve the ease of use of the core features in Fabrica. As a result, we made a series of changes to enhance the overall user experience for members and users who register DOIs via Fabrica. One important change is that repository administrators can now create DOIs from any page in Fabrica without the need to navigate to the DOIs tab. Our analytics analysis showed that Fabrica users mostly use Fabrica to create DOI metadata. In the old flow, they would have to dig down to the DOIs tab to encounter the option to do that. Now users can start creating DOI metadata from the initial landing page, thus reducing the effort to create new DOI metadata.
Other improvements include:
- Revamped home page.
- Additional vocabulary terms for repositories platform and organization types.
- Sorting the DOI list alphabetically by title
- Basic DOI metadata records download in CSV format.
- Format and Language field autosuggest with support for custom inputs.
- Improved guidance and help messages.
- LaTeX support for metadata display.
- New navigation bar.
We invite you to read the Fabrica documentation to learn more about these improvements.
We believe these improvements will make Fabrica an even more valuable tool for members as they create metadata. We are constantly striving to improve our services and value the feedback and ideas of all users. We invite you to submit all your feedback through our roadmap page, from where you can look at current developments and provide feedback about the challenges you face and solutions you need.
Next time you visit Fabrica, make sure to clear your cache to enjoy all the new features.
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you enjoy the new release of Fabrica!
