Hello from the northeastern United States! I joined DataCite at the beginning of March as an Application Support Engineer, and it’s been a pleasure to immerse myself in the community, technology, and culture at DataCite so far.
Like Rorie Edmunds, I have been brought on to support the partnership between DataCite and IGSN. My primary roles in the partnership will involve developing technical transition documentation, working directly with IGSN Allocating Agents on the adoption of DataCite infrastructure for creating IGSNs, and supporting existing DataCite members with IGSN registration. Every day, I discover new and brilliant ways that the IGSN community has used and embraced IGSN IDs, and I look forward to supporting them as they transition to DataCite’s services and APIs.
My previous professional experience has focused on libraries and archives in institutions ranging from Ivy League university IT departments to volunteer-run community archives. In my most recent position at the Brown University Library, I worked under the Digital Repository Manager and focused on digital preservation, digital asset management, and institutional repository services. It will come as no surprise that Brown’s institutional repository uses DataCite services to register DOIs for University research outputs!
I’ve always been passionate about facilitating discovery, accessibility, and impact in information contexts, and I’ve begun a Master’s in Library and Information Science degree to strengthen my theory and practice in these areas. Working with DataCite is an exciting opportunity to apply my professional background and education toward the research ecosystem enabled by DOIs.
Elsewhere, I spend much of my time thinking about arts administration, harm reduction, and New York School poetry. I’m thrilled to join DataCite and look forward to working with the vibrant IGSN and DataCite communities.
