This training session will focus on citations in DataCite DOI metadata. Attendees will learn citations are represented in DataCite metadata and how repositories can start to include citation information using the relatedIdentifier property. We will also explore how citation metadata can be viewed and harvested.

With a focus on the REST API, we’ll cover retrieving, creating, and updating DOI metadata with simple HTTP requests and JSON-formatted metadata. Real-time instruction will be provided, and attendees will be encouraged to engage and ask questions throughout the session. No API experience is necessary.

The Best Practice session will showcase some examples from DataCite Members who have implemented workflows that enable connection metadata to be included when they register DataCite DOIs.
