GAF Funding – Ethics Statement
At DataCite, we adhere to the following minimum standards ethics statement to guide our funding practices and uphold the highest level of ethical conduct in our philanthropic endeavors:
- Integrity and Transparency:
We will act with integrity and openness in all our funding activities. We will provide clear and transparent information about our funding processes, criteria, and decision-making to our grantees and stakeholders. - Fairness and Impartiality:
We will ensure fairness and impartiality in our funding decisions. Our grant allocation process will be based on merit, alignment with our mission, and the potential for positive impact. - Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest:
We will identify and address any potential conflicts of interest that may arise in our funding decisions. We will make funding choices based solely on the best interests of the projects and beneficiaries. - Non-Discrimination:
We will not discriminate against any individual or organization based on race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic in our funding decisions. - Respect for Grantees and Beneficiaries:
We will treat our grantees and project beneficiaries with respect and dignity. We will listen to their voices, acknowledge their expertise, and engage in open and respectful communication. - Privacy and Data Protection:
We are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of personal data provided by our grantees and partners. We will handle and store data responsibly and in compliance with relevant data protection laws. - Compliance with Legal and Regulatory Requirements:
We will comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing funding practices in the jurisdictions where we operate. - Responsibility and Accountability:
We will be responsible stewards of the funds entrusted to us. We will diligently monitor the progress and outcomes of funded projects and ensure that funds are used for their intended purposes. The grantee undertakes to use the funds cost-effectively/efficiently, economically and appropriately (for its intended purpose). Any alternative use is only possible in consultation with DataCite. It is not permitted to transfer the grant to third parties.
